The BioCeuticals Research Symposium is proud to welcome new speaker:

Prof. Loren Cordain, Founder of the Paleo Diet Movement

Dr Loren Cordain

Prof. Loren Cordain, BSHs MS PhD, is a Professor in the Department of Health and Exercise Science at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. His research emphasis over the past 20 years has focused upon the evolutionary and anthropological basis for diet, health and well being in modern humans. Prof. Cordain's scientific publications have examined the nutritional characteristics of worldwide hunter-gatherer diets as well as the nutrient composition of wild plant and animal foods consumed by foraging humans. Using ancestral dietary characteristics as an organisational template, Prof. Cordain and colleagues have made unique contributions to our understanding of optimal diets for contemporary people. Specifically, Prof. Cordain’s international research team has uncovered previously unrecognised dietary triggers for acne and myopia and has shown how certain nutritional characteristics of the western diet are responsible for these and other ubiquitous “diseases of civilisation”.
Currently, Prof. Cordain is exploring the connection between dietary elements that increase intestinal permeability and the development of autoimmune diseases. Prof. Cordain is the author of more than 100 peer review publications, many of which were funded by both private and governmental agencies. He is the recipient of the Scholarly Excellence award at Colorado State University for his contributions into understanding optimal human nutrition as well as the American College of Medicine’s Denham Harmon Award for the most influential scientificThe Paleo Diet paper in 2004. He has lectured extensively on the "Paleolithic Nutrition" concept world wide, and has written five popular books (The Paleo Diet [N.Y. Times Bestseller], Houghton Mifflin Harcourt; The Paleo Diet for Athletes, Rodale Press; The Paleo Diet Cookbook, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt; The Paleo Answer, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and The Dietary Cure for Acne) summarising his research findings.

How do we combat today’s biggest health threats?
The 2nd BioCeuticals Research Symposium, from 11-12 April 2014, aims to provide healthcare practitioners with answers to emerging epidemics, using integrative healthcare to reveal solutions.

Under the Symposium theme, Unravelling 21st Century Epidemics, we will explore current and key research in plenary and workshop style formats.

Following the success of the inaugural Symposium in May 2013, the 2nd Symposium will once again be the highlight of the 2014 events calendar bringing together a number of leading international and national researchers and practitioners in the field of integrative and complementary medicine.
