Clinical Mastery – Histaminosis and Oestrogen: Breaking the Cycle (2 x 60-minute sessions) – 2022

Session 1 Histaminosis and Oestrogen: Breaking the Cycle

Histamine and oestrogen have an intimate relationship physiologically; this inter-relationship is often responsible for a raft of seemingly unrelated symptoms – from hives and headaches to anxiety and insomnia. Many common and clinically challenging patient presentations have histaminosis as a complicating factor, including PMS and PMDD.

Clinically, the key strategies to breaking this cycle lie in the practitioner’s ability to first identify those at risk, confidently test and interpret the relevance of pathology results, and then, using this information, action the most effective prescription for the individual.

Over two clinical masterclasses, Rhiannon outlines the key clinical steps involved in identifying, assessing, and managing women affected by the complicated relationship between histamine and oestrogen. With a special focus on menstrual symptom management, including physical and mental health presentations.

During the session Rhiannon Hardingham covers:
• Causes of histaminosis
• Pathways responsible for histamine metabolism
• DAO deficiency and its causes
• The involvement of the methylation pathway
• The interplay of histamine and the female reproductive tract
• The link between histaminosis and female reproductive pathologies
• Indicators of histaminosis and oestrogen excess on pathology
• Detailed therapeutic overview including clinical considerations for the usage of SAMe and quercetin
