Clinical Mastery - Living in a viral world - Part 1 ( 2 x 60 minute sessions) - 2022

Session 1 Building Immune Fitness and Managing Acute Infections

The mechanisms underlying viral infection are complex, and include multifactorial processes mediated by interactions between viruses and the host immune system. While acute management of viral infection has been a key focus in recent years, emphasis on optimal function of the immune system and preventive strategies is just as crucial.

Helping clients manage their immune health while living in a viral world, has never been as important as now. During this masterclass, Naturopath Lisa Costa Bir will examine the factors that contribute to an individuals’ immune “fitness” and why some people are more susceptible to viral infection than others. Modifiable factors that may influence severity of viral infection, viral reactivation and the psychoneuroimmunity (PNI) of preventive strategies will be explored. A key focus of this educational webinar will be providing evidenced based strategies to reduce the impact of acute viral infections and help sustain optimal immune health.

Session 2 Clinical Strategies for Acute Viral Infections

During this case-study session, Naturopaths Roberta Barbiellini and Sarah Clarke will translate the research highlights and patient management insights from Session 1: Building Immune Fitness and Managing Acute Viral Infections presented by Lisa Costa-Bir into actionable insights that you can effortlessly integrate into your clinical practice.

Presented by: Roberta Barbiellini & Sarah Clarke

Learning objectives:
• Understand the factors that contribute to impaired immune fitness and viral spread
• Explore the concept of PNI and learn psychosocial interventions that can be used to modulate neuro-immune responses, increasing resilience to viral infection
• Apply clinically relevant evidence-based diet, nutritional, herbal and lifestyle strategies to support prevention, management, treatment, and recovery from acute viral infection
