Features of the Program

GLP-1 receptor agonists (RAs) are progressively expanding beyond their core applications in metabolic disease and weight management into female hormonal and reproductive health. Yet, critical knowledge gaps persist regarding their impact on sex hormones.

Clinical naturopath and women’s health expert, Rhiannon Hardingham gives a three-part clinical masterclass on the emerging role of GLP-1 RAs in managing metabolic and reproductive challenges in women and all those assigned female at birth (AFAB).

Expertly hosted by clinical naturopath Lisa Costa-Bir with insightful Q&As.

Part 1: GLP-1 RAs and female metabolism - Understand the influence of women's hormonal fluctuations with GLP-1 RAs, including metabolic considerations across the female lifespan and how hormonal changes affect treatment responses.

Part 2: GLP-1 RAs, PCOS and fertility Examine the rapidly-evolving evidence for GLP-1 therapies in improving reproductive health outcomes, including natural pregnancy rates, menstrual cyclicity, insulin sensitivity, and the hormonal impact in PCOS populations. A case study demonstrates real-world applications.

Part 3: GLP-1 RAs in perimenopause and menopause Explore applications for addressing metabolic shifts, cardiovascular risk, bone health, and neuropsychiatric considerations in perimenopausal and postmenopausal individuals. A case study illustrates the benefit of assessments and interventions specific to this patient group.

Throughout all sessions, Rhiannon provides guidance on prescribing considerations including patient selection, dosing, safety concerns (including reproductive implications), and gives practical strategies to monitor and manage side effects.

Rhiannon highlights the value of naturopathic and integrative approaches, including targeted nutrition, herbal medicine and lifestyle modifications, to optimise outcomes.

Rhiannon discusses how to support long-term metabolic and hormonal health with an approach that prepares the patient prior to starting the medication, supports whilst taking it and continues to support after the GLP-1 RA has been discontinued.
