The definition of what constitutes a product as being vegan varies widely. Currently, in Australia, there is no regulatory standard for the designation of vegan. At BioCeuticals, our definition of a vegan product is a finished product which does not contain any animal-derived content. In the case of some probiotics, the starting culture may have been originally derived from human or dairy origin, yet the bacteria produced for the product is grown on a vegan-friendly carbohydrate medium. Therefore the final product does not contain any animal-derived material and thus, they would be classified as vegan by BioCeuticals.
