Cardiometabolic diseases remain a leading cause of mortality, with 1.3 million Australians reporting heart, stroke, or vascular conditions. Despite lower prevalence, women face double the mortality risk from acute cardiovascular events compared to men. Age, hormonal transitions, genetic predisposition, lifestyle factors, and medications such as statins contribute to oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction and declining CoQ10 levels.

Building cardiometabolic resilience involves strengthening the capacity of cardiovascular and metabolic systems to withstand stressors while maintaining optimal function. Ubiquinol, the reduced and active form of CoQ10, plays a central role. It supports mitochondrial energy production, reduces reactive oxygen species and helps maintain cardiovascular health.

Unlike ubiquinone, ubiquinol is directly bioavailable, bypassing the need for conversion, which may be compromised by age, illness, or stress. Clinical research supports its use for individuals over 40, women during reproductive transitions, statin users and those recovering from cardiovascular events. Higher doses (≥300 mg/day) may offer targeted support.
