Clinical Mastery - The Chronically Depleted Mother. Navigating Comorbidities and Treatment (90-minute session) - 2024

In this 90-minute webinar, Dr Miranda Myles Integrative Naturopath & Dr (Traditional Chinese Medicine) draws on her 21 years of clinical practice to give a wonderfully crafted Clinical Mastery to understand better, clinically assess and effectively treat the chronically depleted mother.

Miranda’s presentation covers four key areas: -
• Postpartum depletion – definition and prevalence and how it differs from post-natal depression.
• Identifying women at risk – the importance of preconception care, the impact of artificial reproductive treatment (ART) and in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) and understanding the neurological changes during pregnancy and postpartum.
• Hormonal, neurotransmitter, gut and immune influence – understanding the hormonal shifts, postpartum thyroiditis and the influence of the gut-brain axis.
• Clinical management – how to effectively assess and utilise key therapeutics.

Miranda covers the clinical application of her top therapeutics and presents the real-life case of 45-year-old Sarah, a mother of two (3.5 years and 18 months), with a history of postpartum mood challenges, presenting with fatigue, hair loss, mood swings, night sweats and brain fog. Added case complexity came from her thyroid (post-partum thyroiditis, hypothyroidism, elevated antibodies), and her 11 rounds of past IVF, plus weight loss, sleep deprivation and hormonal challenges.
