Golden seal is a low-growing perennial herb native to North America and Canada and used prolifically by the Cherokees.[1-2] It was considered a cure-all by the settlers who praised its traditional use and was also used as a dye for textiles. By the 19th century, golden seal had become an official and very popular pharmaceutical medicine in several countries.
