Latin name: Hydrastis canadensis 

Family: Ranunculaceae (buttercup) 

Common names: Indian dye, eye root, eye balm, jaundice root, orange root, yellow root, wild curcuma 

Parts used: root and rhizome 

Golden seal is a low-growing perennial herb native to North America and Canada and used prolifically by the Cherokees.[1-2] It was considered a cure-all by the settlers who praised its traditional use and was also used as a dye for textiles.[3] By the 19th century, golden seal had become an official and very popular pharmaceutical medicine in several countries.[4]

Product features:

  • Standardised to hydrastine (8mg/mL) and berberine (8mg/mL)
  • Vegan friendly
Each 1mL contains herbal extract equiv. to dry:
Hydrastis canadensis (golden seal) root and rhizome 333mg
equiv. to hydrastine
equiv. to berberine

Solvents: 48% organic cane ethanol, 52% mountain spring water.


Recommended dose: 15-30mL per week.
Shake well before dispensing.

For practitioner compounding and dispensing only.


Keep out of reach of children.
Do not use if seal on cap is broken.
Store below 25°C away from direct sunlight.
