ISOWHEY CLINICAL NUTRITION MASTERCLASS
NUTRITIONAL STRATEGIES FOR THE AGEING AND OVERWEIGHT
SYNOPSIS
The Australian population is ageing, while the incidence of obesity and metabolic syndrome is a persistent threat to the health of many. More and more, ageing and overweight customers are seeking solutions to support their wellbeing, and this represents a significant opportunity in the pharmacy setting.
Obesity and sarcopenia (muscle loss) are closely associated with an increased risk of pre-diabetes and the development of type 2 diabetes, whilst having associations with additional age-related conditions (e.g. dementia).
This workshop will explore the various pathways involved in the functional and metabolic health of lean muscle mass, the benefits?of high quality whey protein for supporting lean muscle mass and weight management, and the effect of microbial balance in regulating systemic inflammation and its influence on glucose and insulin signalling.
