Our bodies have an important and mutually beneficial relationship with specific kinds of bacteria that live in our digestive tracts. Approximately 400 species of bacteria can be found in the intestinal tract in the average person.  In fact, if we could take a census of the cells in our bodies, bacteria would outnumber the amount of human cells by a factor of 10!1
