Evan Hayes
BSc, MSc

Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board and Chief Scientific Officer (CSO)

Mr Hayes graduated with a Master of Science 1st Class Honours (Biotechnology) from the National University of Ireland, Galway in 2003. Prior to this Mr Hayes finished first in his class from the National University of Ireland, Cork in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science degree (Honours). He also won the Daniel O'Carroll Award for Scientific Research in 2000 and received the department award for the best undergraduate final-year research thesis.

Previous to his position as CSO with FIT-BioCeuticals Mr Hayes has held the positions of Technical Manager and QA/Compliance Manager.

Mr Hayes has gained valuable business experience in Ireland and Australia, as a senior scientist and R&D biochemist specialising in Research and Development in immunoassay, quality management system implementation such as, product transfer, validation and auditing compliance with various regulatory authorities such as the FDA, IMB and TGA.

Mr Hayes is a Professional Member of the Australian Society for Microbiology and a Member of AusBiotech; the Nutrition Society of Australia, the Australian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and the Australian Diabetes Society.

Dr Michael R Lyon
BSc, MD

Dr. Michael Lyon is an Adjunct Professor at the University of British Columbia in the Food, Nutrition and Health Program where he teaches, conducts research and currently supervises several graduate students. He is also the Medical and Research Director for the Canadian Centre for Functional Medicine in Vancouver where he oversees a team of clinicians and researchers dedicated to biotechnology, nutritional and natural health product research. He is involved in collaborative clinical research with several universities including the University of Toronto, McMaster University, University of Calgary and the University of Sydney. His areas of research have included cognitive and developmental neuroscience, appetite and gluco-regulation.

Dr. Lyon is also a recognised authority on natural health products and he serves on the Expert Advisory Committee for Health Canada’s Natural Health Products Directorate (Canada’s TGA), as well as on the International Expert Advisory Committee for the Advanced Foods and Materials Network, a Canadian Government sponsored funding agency dedicated to supporting research in Nutriceuticals and Functional Foods.

In addition to publishing in the medical literature, he is the author of ‘Healing the Hyperactive Brain through the New Science of Functional Medicine’ as well as ‘Is Your Child’s Brain Starving?’ and is the co-author of ‘How to Prevent and Treat Diabetes with Natural Medicine’ and ‘Beat Diabetes Naturally’. He has also authored two chapters in the latest edition of the ‘Textbook of Natural Medicine’ and one chapter in the ‘Textbook of Functional Medicine’. He is currently authoring a book about managing stress and insomnia.


Dr Robert Buist
BSc. (Hons), PhD, DC, ND

With an honours degree in Biochemistry and a PhD in Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacology as well as degrees in chiropractic and naturopathic medicine, Dr Buist brings with him a wealth of knowledge.

After eight years in Asthma and Cardiovascular drug research at Macquarie University and later as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at New York State Health Department, he switched his research focus to the newly emerging field of Nutritional Biochemistry and Complementary Medicine and is presently acknowledged as one of the founders of Nutritional Medicine in Australia.

Dr Buist has formulated product ranges for both Australian and overseas companies.


Dr William Barnes
BSc, MBCHB (Otago)

Dr William Barnes is a leading researcher in holistic cancer treatment and has over 20 years clinical experience as an esteemed medical practitioner based in Fremantle, WA. Specialising in nutritional medicine, acupuncture and psychotherapy, he has a particular interest in nutritional treatments for cancer, inflammatory disease, chronic fatigue, heart diseases and depression.

His interest in nutritional cancer therapies has led him to train abroad with cancer specialists such as Dr Emanuel Revici and his research work includes the development of selenium and flavonoid therapy for mesothelioma.

Dr Barnes is a Fellow of the Australian College of Nutritional & Environmental Medicine.
